Wow! That's about as comprehensive a paper as you'll
find anwywhere. Nice reference! Thanks! We'll need to refer back to
that one from time to time. ---------- You'll note the introductory quote from the Vatican: "The Church has always taught the intrinsic evil of contraception — that is, of every marital act intentionally rendered unfruitful. This teaching is to be held as definitive and irreformable. . ." OK, one more time around, then: why is NFP allowed? It intentionally renders the sex act "unfruitful" by making use of it only during the infertile time. Granted that's not placing an artificial barrier, but the absence of an egg to fertilize also seems, objectively speaking, to be a formidable barrier to conception!
